Hi C,
That's a nice video and a VERY nice plating set up.
I'll only mention that in the video he shows that he's touching the parts during the processes with his bare hands.
I know he explains how much experience he has, but I everything I read and my experience has been that grease from your fingers will leave marks that show up in the plating… often the mark even looks like a finger print.
But, he does show very nice results.
Regards,
Alan
A similar set up but limited to smaller parts.

Clean Hands
Hi Alan
You are right about gloves which I normally wear. But operating the camera and the parts did not work out with the gloves. I just cleaned my hands good before the video.

Hi Chuck,
Obviously I didn't realize that was you!
I'm quite envious of your 'tank'!!
Well Done!

I like the sunken tank set-up. Puts thing at a much nicer working height (mine are either on the bench too high or the floor too low)

Hello Chuck,
Thank you for this post, it was fascinating.
I am guessing you do this professionally. Do people send you the parts and you plate and return them or do you rebuild carbs and include the plating as part of your service?
I am curious how much plating service alone is for a Qjet if that is an option. Perhaps you have a business website?
If not, thanks again for sharing.

Carb Parts
Yes I do parts for guys. A Quadrajet is $30.00 + the shipping. I clean all the parts and plate them. If you want bushings in the primary throttle plate $ 15.00. I will do the hole carburetor for $150.00 + shipping.Shipping is been about $19.00 each way. I have a Youtube video on the base plate bushings how you can do it your self. Its on this site also.No web site.I am just small potatoes. I do it to support my car parts.Every original nut/bolt/clip/washer or any metal fastener was Plated or had a phosphate finish on it. When I was doing restoration jobs I had my own equipment to do most of the factory finishes. Painted nuts&bolts bother me. I am sure my Doctor has a Med for it if I would ask him.I have my personal 70 Vette up for sale on Ebay.I have it listed on this site too.
Thanks for looking
