Is there a way to check a bare frame for straightness or is it best to take it to a shop? I have the frame stripped and want to verify there are no issues with it before having it powdercoated.

With all the unibody cars theres not as many "frame" shops but even uni-bodies get rebent after accidents and many body shops will have there own frame straightening rig. Plenty of pick ups, suburbans and explorers out there to. Just ask around the local body shops. If one doesnt have one then call another body shop. Now with the body off it could/can be done at home but it will take some learning and improvising with come-alongs and maybe hydraulic jacks. No i havent done this but for small corrections while the frame is stripped it should be possible.
Now if u have the frame stripped then this is the time to do upgrades to the frame. The Chevy Power Manual has all the locations to reinforce and strengthen the C3 frame. And theres not really that much but if plan to do any circuit track type racing u will wish u had this. Look up posts by Bee-Jay for his front end failure while racing.
