Default 68 Door catch hardware

Hi all
68 just came back from the paint shop. Looks great back to original blue

Not quite sure the paint shop got all the hardware on the doors around the catch quite right.

Can some post a pic of their door catch area and the pillar area where the post is. See mine below. I checked the aim but couldn't quite find what I am looking for.

Hi Cc,
NEW PAINT!!!! Nice!
This AIM page shows the 'plate' and 'spacer' and their location on the door…. those unused 2 holes.
Various vendors have these parts.
I believe the configuration changed for 69.
Regards,
Alan

Default More info.

Thanks Alan!

Also,

Here is a set:

http://www.corvetteamerica.com/cf/part.cfm?partno=26667

Forget which side the brass piece goes on. I think the brass is on the door and the matching plastic piece is on the door jamb.

I think this is unique to the 68.

BTW, when you install these, be careful to get them in the right place, use a marking grease or something similar, if the brass piece over travels the plastic wedge, it then becomes very difficult to get the door open, LOL's! Don't ask me how I know this!

Hope this helps.

Paint shown looks nice!

Hi 20,
I believe in 68 both sides (door jamb and hinge pillar) were made from gray plastic.
I believe it was the 69 convertible that used the long brass wedge. (But again don't know if the brass was both sides or just one.)
Regards,
Alan

Paint looks nice, Le Mans Blue is one of my favorites.

The plastic piece goes on the door jam. A brass wedge was used on the door. Early cars used the wedge shown in the attached picture. Later cars and early 69s used the same plastic piece on the jam, but the brass door wedge changed to a longer shape.

Cheers guys,
Knew it would be in the aim somewhere. Must have glossed over that page as thought it was just the handle.

As my wife would say must have had a man look.

20 thanks for the tip on the brass, I could do without that complication!

New paint is a really nice thing, apart from the 470000 colour choices.

Hi Cc,
OOH!
Very nice looking convertible!
I'll bet you're really excited and pleased to have it back!
Am I seeing 'Queensland' on the tag?
Regards,
Alan

Cheers Alan
You are quite correct. Queensland, tropical cairns.

Very nice to have it back on the road.
She is coming along well. Mainly interior left to do.

Funny how all it takes to forget about the $s that it cost is putting in first and pulling out of the driveway....
