Default Ventilation Duct

Does anyone reproduce the ventilation duct or do I have to find a used one? This is the piece that holds the round ball. My passenger side is really bad! Driver side is in a little better shape but could stand to be replaced.

Thanks

Gus

Anyone have some that they are willing to sell? I need the passenger side more than a driver side but could use both.

Thanks

Before going out and buying a used one that might not be a whole lot better then what you have, I'd soak that in some rust remover first. It may clean up a lot better than you think.

My driver side was rusted shut. A day of soaking and scrubbing and it finally freed up. Careful with those ears they are easily broken.

There is nothing wrong with the duct you have!. Remove the ball by rotating it so the vanes run cross-wise to the duct...then pull it out.

Stick the rest of the vent in a bucket with CLR (or other rust remover) in it. You can buy the naval jelly stuff and just slop it over the metal parts, also. Anyway, that will get rid of the rust and the mechanism arms should work OK. Lube them with white lithium grease (from a tube, not a spray can). Make new ball and inlet 'seals' from black felt, either glued in place or attached with double-sided tape.

If the ball has lost its shine, clean it well with detergent, then rinse THOUROUGHLY and dry. Spray with a decent primer for plastics; then give a light coating of Dupli-Color 'chrome' paint. You MUST let this paint dry for 24 hours before touching; and you should let it cure for a couple more days before re-installing the ball. Finally, put the ball back in the way you took it out.

There, you didn't have to find another vent or ball...and yours almost looks new. DIY !!!
