Hello all I recently picked up my first vette, a 79 red on red non running. Engine is in car but is missing alot of items and the exhaust manifolds are cracked. My idea is to drop in a tpi with od auto trans out of an 87 or later IROC Z28. Any wiring tips or monting tips or links to web sights would be apprectiated.
ok heres a good site to learn about it and ideas,im in the process right now installing a 87 tpi setup and 700r4.If you can get the harness and everything from the donor car it will be alot easier. Oh and congratulations on your first vette. http://www.chevythunder.com/index.htm

Congrats and Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here on boards
and searching archives. Just picked up my 79 about two weeks ago,
see webpage for pics.
 :seeya
The system is pretty stand alone. The only hook ups to the existing harness were to the starter, ignition, fuel pump, and ground. For the overdrive, you will have to splice into the brake light switch.
Also will you are at it and the motor is out. Put a larger cam in and match the intake runners. Both will add quite a bit of horsepower. But remember the more you modify the harder it is to get the chip right.
There are several books on the subject. I would diffently read one to under stand how the system works. Fuel maps, open loop, etc.
