I am looking to replace my current mufflers for no other reason than I want the car to be louder. I want a louder rumble and not loud like no muffler loud. The choices are a plenty and there is no way to test the sound so I turn to you guys for some suggestions. I have a small block 1971 with a mild cam.
My car is a small block with hedman headers to 2.5 in pipe to Jones exhaust mufflers. They are a straight through muffler as you can see. These are Magnaflow knockoffs so maybe less shinny and half the price.
Here is a video I shot at a dyno. There is some dyno noise but it should give you a good idea of what they sound like.
hit up your local car events and listen to others cars till you find what you like.
I know what my ears like but not what your ears like. We'll all recommend what we got because we like it- but you may not. In addition to the above advice, I would add that Corvette has short pipes and the same muffler on a different car may not reproduce the sound it would have on a Vette. The more Vettes you can listen to, the better. Also, you didn't say if you have headers. Headers will change the sound so try to focus on those that are like yours. Good luck.

I do have headers, rear exhaust, and completely agree with personal preference for sound. I suppose my question should have been along the lines of asking what everyone is using, but I want loud. Listening to other cars is a great idea, but being the winter I don't plan on seeing many cars on the road.
For the magnaflow guys, which models are you using?

I love the sound you have. Sadly I am a small block. Sounds like you have an upgraded cam to go with the BBC. This is the sound I want with the smaller motor.

Pypes violators, I have a small block, personally I dont think this sounds like a big block but people ask me all the time if it has one by the sound it makes

I've heard the Hooker Aerochambers are very loud & harsh - people running them need resonators to tone them down. Personally, I like the internal design of the Cherry Bomb Vortex, & they sound good too:

Magnaflow sells a non shiny (not polished) version of most of the mufflers they stock for a cheaper price, at least they did a few years ago. They are identical, only the finish is different.
