Any experience with CORRECTED type distributor cap on HEI distributor. Looks like a good idea but does it work. Thanks
Tried one and took it off. Had a miss after installation. Don't know if it was cross firing (doubtful) or had an internal wiring issue in the cap. Sent it back and got a replacement but have not yet put it on.

The only advantage of the expensive "corrected" caps is the appearance of the wires but the wires can be routed so they appear corrected. As far as I know they work okay.....................
But be aware...there are some cheap knock offs out there. I bought one at a swap meet (new) once and couldn't believe it..but they had mis-routed the terminals. Had to use an ohm meter the figure out what they had done. It worked..but wiring order was really goofy.
Jim, thanks for the tip off. I think I'll give one a try, find one sealed in a box w/Accel on it, then take an ohm meter and make sure the wiring is correct. Maybe that's what they mean when they say CORRECTED!. Thanks to all for the input.

About a year ago I sent back 3 non working corrected caps from Accel to Accelerate. I loved the look. The first one lasted 1 year, the second 1 month, and the third did not work out of the box. Accel handled the problem to my satisfaction.
I have not run a corrected cap since then. I am not sure if they corrected their manufacturing problem or not.
Food for thought. The spark plug wires will only work with a corrected cap. And you can not get a replacement corrected cap at your local parts store. So it is best to have a spare.

No i dont have any experience with corrected caps. Looking at them i see they make the plug wires a bit more tidy by grouping them to each cyl bank. But the issue of induced spark and firing #7 by #5 is still there. The sbc has #5 & #7 together on the cap and the firing order too. A corrected cap does nothing for that.
I have never had an issue with the 5 & 7 wires being next to each other ( using conventional caps), but I also have always used wire looms and tried to keep things as neat as I could. I also preferred coming up from under the plugs, but that was with a rams horn manifold. I am in the process of building an L98 with angled plugs so I am pretty sure I need to come from the top with the wires, which is what brought me to this question. But I'm seeing more cons than pros here so maybe I'll just leave things as they are and custom cut a set of wires if I want a nice tidy look. More thoughts are welcome. Thanks.
I'm not sure what brand mine was that worked fine. It wasn't Accel...it was something out of the Hot Tod Magazines in the back. Smaller company when they first hit the market. It was very well made....ran it for years and then gave it to a buddy who's probably still using it.
I like bringing wires up from the bottom. I have them on my turbo'd 555" that way. Can't stand stuff all over the engine compartment.

Jim, I did a quick search and came up with CROSSFIRE corrected dist. caps. Only come in black and the reviews I came across were like yours, very happy with it. I sent them an email to see if they work on th TPI engine I am building. If it does, that will be where I head, if not, I'll stick with the standard set up. Not enough good comments on the Accel set up. Thanks.
I bought a very nice camaro for cheap money back in the late 70's early 80s because the car had one of those and the owner didn't know. He changed the plugs and wires couldn't get it to run traded it to a dealer for another car. I bought it from a dealer that was shocked when I changed the cap and it fired right up.
I love those stupid things.
