And it sounds great :yesnod:  . I installed Heddman ceramic coated headers, 2.5" pipe, an X-pipe, Flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and no cats. I love not having to pass an emmisions test. The X-pipe fit no problem, so I don't why people say it's hard to make it fit. You can definately tell a power difference, and the engine revs up quicker, but the best part is the sound, it finally sounds like a true muscle car now. There is interior resonance up to about 2,000 rpm, but it's not what I would call to loud. If someone wanted quiter, I think I would recommended the 40 series, but get the delta flow version instead. But, if you want classic muscle car sound, 40 series is the way to go. My buddy told me it sounds like a Ford :U , which I kind of agree with, it reminds me exactly of the '67 Shelby GT 500 in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" (the new version), but I like the sound of that car very much, so I'm not disapointed by any means. I'll try and post some pics of the final product. By the way, the system looks great too, and the guy who installed it for me did a great job, which I kind of expected after seeing his other work (I used to work for him). Sorry for the rant, but I figured it would help someone with their decision on an exhaust system.
Re: Finally got my exhaust installed.... (pats406nitrovette)
Congrats on the new system!
Which are more mild - the 40 or 50 series? Where does the delta series come into play?
I'm installing my new headers next week and thought about having flowmasters installed when I was at the muffler shop but I'm having a hard time deciding what to get.
Way  Ryan. Enjoy the music that 77 now plays!! :D I love my Delta Flow 40's. Sounds like a Vette should!!
Scott A: The 40 series come in regular and Delta Flow. Delta Flow are a wee bit quieter. Both have the same body size and tuck up and under the body nicely. The 50 series are nearly 3" longer in size and are noticably quieter than the 40's. They are much harder for the installer to tuck under, and most times are visable from a side view, hanging down some. Good Luck

Re: Finally got my exhaust installed.... (Alwyn678)
The X-pipe is installed right behind the rear crossmember (I believe that's what it's called). I got the X-pipe from Jegs's, it's made by Heddman Hedders and is the X junction only, for $90, they also sell an X-pipe with pipe on it for something like $170. The one with the pipe looks like it would never fit on a vette, since the pipe has to come through that crossmember. I used the X junction only and had custom bent pipe run from the headers to the X, then from the X to the Flowmaster's. I have a pic of the this install on a C3, but it's not my vette, it's the picture I gave my installer to give him something to go by. Now someone has to tell how to post pics here on the forum.
