Default Blueprint 48002-k cylinder heads

Based on my previous post would these heads work well with my build? For the time being I will have to stay with the 350 auto trans and 3.08 rear gear. I know this would help on the low end but I have to do this in steps. Thanks everyone...

They should make good power however it will still be soft on the bottom end with 3.08 gears and a low stall converter I would guess.Get as much initial timing advance as you can to help out with the low end.
Once you get some gears down the road I would try a slightly larger carb as I bet that combination would make more power with a good 650/700/750 vacuum secondary Holley.

Thanks 96 lt-4, I will continue looking for better suited heads for this build to help out on the low end. I do plan to go with a 2400 stall which should help out if I do go with these heads until I can swing the gears and 200R4 trans.

Hi Nivensid

We saw your post and wanted to thank you for your interest in BluePrint Engine’s 195cc Muscle Series aluminum cylinder heads.

We use these heads with a camshaft very similar to the grind you talked about with great low to mid-range torque producing close to 400 hp and 400+ torque in a 355.

What LT-4 mentioned about being lazy on the bottom has nothing to do with your engine combo, but your rear differential gearing. The 3.08’s are more of a highway gear, but with your 355 and our heads, you will have a vast improvement over the stock 350, nearly double the power and torque. Like you said, going to a steeper gear and an overdrive transmission in the future will make your Corvette even more fun; but I doubt you will be disappointed in the performance in the meantime.

Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have on any of our products.

With; your cubes , small 625 carb, 2,400 stall, small cam, and performer intake , along with the Blueprint heads - I think you'll have plenty of torque "off idle" . Enough to light-up a set of street tires . If not then some tuning is required.
Your mid-range torque is going to kick in just above your stall also ... and away we go..

( with the gear change - also change to an RPM intake with a bigger better carb)

Here's one more idea: Instead of a 200r4 swap; do a 700r4 swap and take advantage of the low 1st gear to help get you accelerating and make up for your 308 rear gears. You could also go with a 2800 lockup stall which would again, help you on the low end to get going AND you'd have ridiculously awesome highway cruising fuel economy with the 3.08 and .70 OD on the 700r4.

Right now you've got a torque multiplication ratio of 3.08 x 2.52 = 7.76 ratio; the 200r4 has a 2.74 1st gear so 3.08 x 2.74= 8.44 ratio ; the 700r4 has a 1st gear of 3.06 so 3.08 x 3.06 = 9.42 ratio. -That's much better and combine that with a good stall and some good budget heads like the Blueprint combined with your smallish cam and you should have plenty of actual torque at the wheels to get it moving AND you'll get stupid good highway MPG if it doesn't bog.

A 700r4 swap will cost more than a 200r4 swap (but less than a 200r4 + new rear gears) as you'll need a new cross member and you'll need your drive shaft cut, welded and balanced (I got mine done for $75); but you can get some good acceleration and not have to deal with the rear end gears and keep that cruise RPM low and highway mpg high.

And while I doubt you'll find better flowing heads than the BluePrint H8002k for $895 a pair, it's currently worth looking at the Jegs-stamped Profiler 195cc heads for $998 a pair:
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...14022/10002/-1

BluePrint H8002k
CFM Port Flow Average @ 28"

.100" - 83
.200" - 150
.300" - 190
.400" - 223
.500" - 252
.600" - 245

Jegs/ Profiler 195cc
Lift Intake CFM Exh CFM % Exh/Int
0.200 145 110
0.300 209 145
0.400 254 180
0.500 273 206
0.600 274 213
0.700 276 216
0.800 276 218

When the current sale ends the BluePrint heads will be significantly cheaper, but right now, IMO the extra $100 gets you quite a bit of flow.. (21 CFM @ 0.500" could be 42 hp for $100 ($2.38 per HP))
