Have a 1973 454 and we are currently redoing the engine.
Called one of the major Corvette Parts Suppliers and he discouraged me from buying their braided good looking spark plug wires as he felt they may not stand up if I use anything other than original equipment coil.
I have been on all the major sites and I'm confused what to buy.
Anyone had good success with the braided wrapped wires that dress up the engine?
Often times...if you are going to improve on the intensity of the spark..and in doing so you change out parts with those that are an improvement...then you might have to get over using braided spark plug wires that look good and actually use wires that will provide you in what you will gain from an improvement in the ignition system.
If you are confused....then it is time to consult an ignition manufacturer and talk with them....if you have not already done so. MSD, Mallory, Petronix, Accell...just to name a few.
Yes...I have replaced the braided spark plug wires on the Corvettes that had them on it....but the ignition system is not improved...so I can not verify if they would fail.
Thanks DUB
The engine is at my engine builder so I'll check with him to see what plans he has for the ignition system.
Based on other changes we discussed I'm assuming he might be considering an upgrade.
Will follow up with one of the suggested manufacturers.
Thanks again for input.

Les, Stands to reason if you are building up this engine with more power....upgrading the ignition system to burn the air/fuel mix only makes sense. Unless he has an engine dyno where it can be tested and tuned before you drop it in the car.
Found wires from Taylor braided and good for higher energy, a bit moe expensive
