I'm trying to adjust the frame on the soft top. The drivers side rear pin (the one that goes into the rear deck lid) isnt lined up right . Any suggesstions would be appreciated!
Try adjusting the cables that help tighten or loosen your top up, they run along the top of your roof on the sides, I had to do the same thing last year to mine, not I need to get a new pin for the drivers side, mine is very worn, and doesn't always stay down and pops up. I am considering putting in a canvas top with a glass window, may make late fall driving a little more comfortable and quiter than the OEM vinyl one that I have now.
As you've probably discovered, that pin is adjustable laterally by using the slots in the pin mount. There is also a factory shim designed to go behind the pin....moves it out....so the pin comes forward. I had the opposite problem on one of mine. Had to grind the back of the pin mount to get it closer to the frame. Also, you can adjust the female latch on the deck somewhat. Chuck
Mine is too close towards the front of the car. I am going to remove the shim but not sure if that will give me enough clearance. May have to grind the back of the mount.
Mick, are you sure the frame hasn't just bent in a little on that side....it may just need a little persuasive counterbend on that side......john :chevy ;)
You can also adjust the two bolts that hold the top frame to the car. Be careful not to let the top slip down when loosening the two bolts, as the door edge could be scratched by the top frame when being shut , but they will slide back and forth a little bit.
I would only adjust the frame if the pin adjustments didn't work. The shim idea is what worked for me- I had to take one side out and put it on the other side. I think my deck lid was not lined back up where it was before the paint job.
Good luck and just try differnt things and have patience, you'll get it.

The service manual describes this adjustment. You have to remove the covers on each side by the door to get to the top frame attachment points. My top kept popping up at the back, so I adjusted these bolts and now the top stays down in back. BUT, as mentioned above I get all kinds of paint scraped off the top back of the door :( looks like crap! :( now I gotta adjust some more, and do some major touchup. MJ

I know what saying, there MNJack. I did the very same thing. After the new paint job, first thing I do is put the top back on and scratch up the top of both doors.... . Man, am I good or what?
I did a little of all of them and now the top works good without scratching the doors. The previous owner had them (bolts by door) way up top. I put the top on and secured it both front and rear then loosened the bolts by the door it seemed to self adjust. and everything fell into place. I also removed the shim behind the piece that holds the rear pin. The last thing I am going to do today is slightly adjust the rear deck lid. Doesnt pop up anymore and the 1 inch gap between the car and top is now gone.
