I must have glossed over the "Heavy Duty" part. That would be the opposite of the LED flasher which requires less load. However, I can't see only 2 extra bulbs adding that much more load. Better safe than sorry I guess.
I upgraded my stock 1157 to 2357 front and rear, and that was enough to need another flasher. 2357's are brighter, thus draw more power.

I made some DTRL's for the front with some COB LED's and mounted it under the rest of the turn signal. I used some clear casting resin to make the lens in front. Those COB's are really intense and I am happy with the look. They are much like the ones Richard showed, but the length is a bit shorter so it would fit in place.
I am adding a third brake light to my back window this winter. I am putting mine at the bottom of the glass. I figured that i am much lower than somebody in a truck behind me and it would be easier to see from that angle then if it were at the top of the glass below the halo. It is attached to the rear glass and so it has a plug on it in case I ever take the back window out.
Those really look good on your car...I have the eggcrates and haven't figure out what'll look good....

Standard flashers.... heavy duty flashers...they are mechanical ...as in a piece of metal(bimetallic strip) heats up- bends and breaks contact - then cools and makes contact again- that's what causes the flash.
You need an electronic flasher for LED's- uses a solid state circuit to control the flash- it doesn't care how many bulbs are hooked up(OK we are not talking about tractor trailers)
LED's are brighter AND use a lot less power.
Oh- don't forget you have two flashers- one for the turn signals AND one for the hazards.

Sure. I got the casting resin from an art supply store. I put a lot of thought into making a lens that would come out and in the end I trashed all those ideas and just poured it into the grill. I laid the grill level face up with tape across the back side and then poured the resin in. I masked off some vertical stripes and sprayed glass frosting spray on the back. I made some brackets to hold the COB LEDs behind them. I don't know if I will ever need to take them out but if I do.. well I am not sure. I figured I could melt it out or just bust it out.

I like what you have done, it looks great. I am going to use the ones in the link below on my '80. I'll probably just remove the grille and parking light completely and replace with these and some sort of mesh grille.
I think the flasher is only required if he is using LEDs, which he is not. The stock one shoul work with the extra bulbs. Am I wrong?
No, the OEM flasher is fine.
Just scotch-lock #1157 pigtails into the existing brake/tail wiring and add inner OEM outer lenses. Tie the back-up harnesses somewhere out of the way. Yes, you lose the back-up lights but who cares.
I did some tinkering today to see how the DRL/turn signal would work out. I think I'll sind some sort of frosted cover to soften the brightness some and look for a mesh I can bend into lace to cover where the grille was.
I have the parking light intact behind the bumper cover (why there is an orange glow behind the DRL) which is what I'm using to draw power for right now. Just wanted to make sure it worked properly prior to cutting those wires.
I added the extra 2 taillights and have no issues with the existing flasher. Both blink when the turn signal is turned on. Keep in mind when you install the 2 new tail lights to replace the back ups, you will have to drill new holes. The bolt pattern is different than the back ups.
