Default 383 short block

Hello. Looking to go the stroker route. Looking to get a 383 short block roller block with a 1 pc RMS. To be fully honest it will be for an 89 firebird, but it is chevy powered. Seeing if anyone has any experience with ATK engines. This wont be a full race engine but just an occasional romp engine so no need for fully forged. The SP15 looks like a decent engine but looking for other opinions or other suppliers. Just looking to avoid costly mistakes. Thanks in advance for the replies....

I have an ATK HP55C which I had them cam down a bit for the street. I sold my old 350 for $2000 so I needed the full pop turnkey motor. A lot of people speak poorly about hypereutectic pistons. What heads, compression and cam will you run? Actually very happy with it. There are higher quality builders but based on reviews available back in 2013, I'd choose ATK over Blueprint or Skip White.

Make sure the bore they send you is actually 4.03". They sent me a 4.04" (385cid). I'm just not very comfortable with this block being cut that far as the cylinder walls get a little thin at the bottom of some of the bores.

From all I've seen ATK is doing some nice performance street stuff. Their reps are on the net a lot to answer questions and seem to be stand up folks.

The Blueprint guys are here also. I've had some recent discussions with them concerning their products and so far I'm pretty impressed with their offerings and honesty. I'd ck them out too.

YOU are in luck. I have one I'm trying to sell for $2500. Buyer pays for shipping.

This one has been balanced, forged crank rods, and pistons:

And 1 pc rear main seal!!

I an oilpatch casualty. Been unemployed since Sept. '15.

Putting my '81 project on hold until I get a new job. I'm not selling the car though.

I also will be selling the AFR 195 cc heads, but want to sell the shortblock first.

Whatever comes on the AFR 195 cc heads. Seems like I called AFR and verified that the springs should be good for that cam.

Thanks for the input guys. I was looking at the blueprint engines also, but have heard more horror stories then not. Going to use afr 195's with a lunati voodoo 515 int 530 exh cam. Going to switch to a single plane FI intake over the current holley stealth ram.

The engine looks good with good specs. But I think with shipping to NJ it will be cost prohibitive. But thanks for the offer.
