Here is a 68 weatherstrip installed on a door. Hope this helps
Thanks for your help.
Do you have a photo from above the door (same angle as the photo I posted at the beginning) ?
I'm also wondering why is there a so large gap behind the window. It seems there is also a missing part (see pic below).
it would be great if someone could post a photo of this area on his 68
Hi W,
This is a 71 coupe.
It appears that 'some' of the 'tab' has been cut/broken off on your door.
I'm not sure just what the 68 convertible configuration was.
Is the other driver's side door fiberglass the same?
Regards,
Alan

The end of the weatherstrip flips over and screws down. If you look at my top right hand picture you'll see it. The gap you see will always be there on your left circle. I've got a way better picture somewhere I'll see if I can find it for you.
The fiberglass tab at the top of your door looks to be broken off. The tab should stick out approximately .75 inch.
With the 68 style weatherstripping your circled area will be left open. When the convertible top is up it is covered by that. It wasn't the best design so it was changed in 69. The 69 weatherstrip wraps around both sides of the window and closes the circled gap as shown in the picture of the green car I've attached.
You also have a 69 outer window seal on your door. 68s used a fuzzy strip for the seal (see picture of white car) and 69s were rubber. The 69 seal is much shorter than the 68 and will leave a big gap at the outside end of your window that I've circled in blue on the original picture you posted.
If your going to stick with the 69 window seal your going to also have to use the 69 style weatherstripping to fill in the blue area. I believe all the mounting points are the same.

Good catch John... You know I studied those pics of his for over an hour today focusing on the weatherstrip and didn't catch that. The door skin is missing the edge and the you are 100 percent correct, the outer felt is wrong... it's 69-82 style.
