Tachometer Problems
This is my first real post to the forum. I am 17 and got a 1981 last September. I know I may be young, but don't worry. I take good care of my car. Right now I intend on keeping this car forever. Thanks to you guys for all of the help that I have found, gotten and will hopefully receive in the future.
So, I decided to go through the emissions removal process. I had an Edelbrock 1406 that was given to me with the car that I rebuilt then put on. I also got a pertronix plugnplay distributor with an ignitor III in it with new wires and a coil. Then, I put on some maximizer h.p. sidepipes on the car (no resonator or nothing
). It has all come together nicely in the past week or so and it runs well, but I think I made a mistake by not factoring in the tachometer. I realized I now have no accommodation for a tach. What are my options to get my tachometer working again? Can I somehow switch to a mechanical tach even though I don't think my distributor has that option? or is there a way to wire up my original tach? Right now, I just have my rev limiter set to 4k so that its safe. Thanks,
Gunter

You need to see if your distributor can drive an electric tach. Read the Pertronix instructions and see if there is any mention of electric tachometers.
