The Simplest, Stupid Things that Cause Problems
Last week I was getting my car ready to take to Milan dragway. Adjusted the valves, new plugs, and I figured I'd remove the choke butterfly since it's been disconnected for a couple years now. Simple stuff, right?
Start the car for the first time as I'm ready to leave for the track. Running good. Pull out onto the main road, rip through the gears, feeling great!
Then I let off on the gas...the car keeps going!!! Ruh roh! Pull off to the side and the damn thing is idling at 2500rpm. :confused: Could not figure it out. Wasn't against the idle screw at all. Look for a few minutes, turn back home, look at it in the driveway for a while. Then I see the problem.
I had bumped the manual choke lever to the full ON position, so the damn thing was running at high idle! UGH!!! All that farting around blew 1/2 hour and it was the SIMPLEST damn thing to fix. Flip the choke lever, look at that! Idling right where it should. UGH!! :cuss
