Default Sill rails rusted out

I'm not sure this is what they are called, the rails that nest over the frame rails to support the body? Just found out mine are badly rusted out. Does anyone have any advice on how to repair or replace these? Around each body mount they are completely gone, holes the size of baseballs. Also a little rustout on outside of driver's side. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

i think your talking about the body mount dust cover thingies that are riveted to the body...if that's what it is, mine are shot too and i am interested in solutions as well...i saw a thing on corvettefaq where somebody did something with them, but it wasn't too descriptive. can i change body mounts without removing the body from the frame?

These rails are part of the structure of the body. I'm pretty sure the windshield pillars weld to it, it is covered with fiberglass, and has the holes for the 3 forward body mounts on each side. I am reasonably certain that to change your body mounts you would have to lift the body enough to gain access, especially the 2 on each side that are accessed through the forward rear fenderwells and behind the kick plates below the dash.

This link shows the part you are reffering to:
http://store.yahoo.com/zipproducts/b...-channels.html

The only way I know of doing it is with the body off.

Okay, the part that is rusted out is the rocker channel sleeve. I see there are inserts both front and rear. Are these normally salvaged when doing these? Sorry for these stupid questions, but I haven't got a clue as to what I'm getting into here. The cost of the channels doesn't seem too bad. I'm not sure I can handle too many more surprises on this project.
