Default Renegade Manifold Dyno Testing?

I have this Renegade manifold that has been sitting in my garage for several months, have not had time to install it. But I was thinking....

Right now I'm not working, so I could use this free time to do alittle R&D. I just got through with installing duals on my '82, and this week will probably install a wideband onto my C3.

So I know a lot of people are wanting to know about this Renegade manifold. How much power is it really worth? Well...we can find out...

But its not going to be free. Dyno time cost money. Usually shops around here demand a minimum of 3 pulls. I saw one recently 3 pulls for $95. I think that is high. I think I can shop around and get 3 pulls for $85 or maybe even $75.

What about starting a "Gofundme" account for this R&D project? I'm not looking to make any money, I just want to get paid back for the dyno time. Otherwise I think I'm just going to throw it on there and call it good, cause I can't afford dyno runs at the moment.

So...my plan is to have an initial pull (or 3) BEFORE the manifold is installed, record the AFR. THEN...take it back home, install the Renegade, come back for another 3 pulls. Total then would be somewhere between $150 to $190.

But then I got to thinking some more....wouldn't it be cool to see how all these stack up against the Holley EFI terminator sitting on top of an Edelbrock RPM manifold? I just so happen to have one of those too!! Enquiry minds want to know!! I know they do!! I know I do!!! The total then would run about $225 to $285.

Like I said I'm not looking to make any money, but rather get back what I spent on dyno time.

We can even have a mods here on Corvette Forum manage the gofundme account. As long as I get paid I don't care. I'll post receipts too to prove I didn't make a dime. And of course, I'll post up the dyno pulls, with AFR, etc.

What do you think? Who's in?

Renegade shows there Dyno results on their site, or at least they used to.. about 30 HP they claim over stock for a cost of what $550 parts only ?.. But without a cam change, whats the point ? A good set of Long tubes can get that.

With the original heads, cam, manifolds, cats, and mufflers, changing the manifold won't make any huge difference. My question would be do the stock heads have the same tiny intake ports the crossfire intake does? If so, little difference. If the ports are substantially larger, I bet there is room to gain. I'll throw $10 in the hat, more if it's on my side of town and I can drop by and watch. I'll bring beer too!

Turn it into a dyno days and get 6 or so of us committed, you can get a better price. in 6 weeks or so , I hope to be ready to tune on mine. Texas Cobra club big rally is first weekend in April, so I'm out then, but before would be great. There's a place off Jones and 1960 that us megasquirt guys had a dyno day at last June. Good times.

I just noticed where you live. Cold beer combined with your town makes me think of Clete Purcel. Not Vette related but it still puts a smile on my face.

Hey that's not a bad idea.

Keep in mind I probably won't be able to get all of this done in one day. I'm gonna have to take it home, throw on the Renegade, then come back and re-test. Drive it around some for the computer to re-calibrate itself.

To my understanding the crossfire manifold ports are smaller than the matching intake ports, that's part of the problem. I think the Renegade addresses this issue.

We've heard reports of a solid 30 hp increase, but would like to see dyno charts with no other changes made.

Cold beer in any town puts a smile on my face. Particularly when it's free.

I'll probably go ahead and do my 3 initial dyno pulls now, then maybe at a later date we can schedule the dyno day (by then I will have the Renegade on, and the bugs worked out...if there are any). I'll record atmospheric conditions but to my understanding the dyno should compensate for atmospheric changes. I'll be sure and ask first about this.

Clete is not what we'd call politically correct- there's a certain charm in that He's a force to be reckoned with for sure. His loyalty to Dave makes me love the guy in spite of all of his warts. Great stories by a world class story teller. If I ever make it to that region I'll make sure to swing through New Iberia because of his incredible descriptions of it.

I'd hate to imagine what a $20 stripper is going to look like.
