decode motor numbers pleese
Can somebody tell me if this is right motor for my 71.
vin is 194371S113282
2 sets of numbers on deck 011S113282 and V0316CJL
if you can deciper or point me to website that would be good.

It appears that you have the original engine. The suffix CJL tells that you have a 270hp 350 with manual trans. Since the vin and the engine stamping coincide it is most likely the original engine. The only other possibility is a re-stamp which is not likely with the more common cars. Re-stamps are mostly found on NCRS restored or rare cars.

Corvette Black book lists suffix for 1971 "CJL:350ci,270hp,mt".Look for your
casting number and post it.It should be on bellhousing flange at the rear
of block.

For the VIN
19437 = Corvette Coupe
1 = 1971
S = St. Louis
1 = ?
13282 = sequential number produced that year
The 011S113282 stamping on the motor matches = original
Out of curiosity, is there a blue sticker on the drivers door with the VIN on it?
Also, check out 1971 Corvette Registry, it has some good info there.
