Default Borgeson Box hose routing?

Hello all,
I have a 72 with Hooker Super Comp side pipes and just installed borgeson box. How did you guys route your power steering hoses? Mine are resting right up on the headers. Was thinking of just thermo sleeving them but I think that will not be enough. Or I was thinking of just having AN oses made longer and re routing them with swivel fittings. Any pics?

Not the best picture, but you can see mine are no where near the headers.

Again not a good picture but you can make them out, routed to the left of the box.

Thanks, are they the hoses that came with the conversion kit? Not sure if mine are long enough to go around the front of the header.

Hard to measure installed, but I get roughly 24"-25" end-to-end (incl fittings) for the pressure hose.

If mine were that long it would work, they are 18in if they are lucky

Put them on box first then on pump .. They are a pain sometimes to get in .. Or reverse and go pump to box .. leave the first attach point lose so you can manipulate hoses

They just arent long enough to go around the header, it has to run through and then they hit on the 3 cyl header pipe. These newer Hooker sidemount headers seem to stick out farther then my older 12 year old set. I think we are just going to get some longer braided hoses made Monday to go all the way around them or get some 2500* sleeving.

One way to "lengthen" your return line is to do what I did. I took the pump off, drained the fluid, and "unbrazed" the return line nipple, that points down about "5 o'clock", and repositioned it to point up at about 10 o'clock, viewed from the rear. That way, your return line does not have to go down under the engine and do a 180 degree U turn and point up. This should give you all the header clearance you need.

As for the high pressure line, I cannot make it out from your photos, but I find it hard to believe that the hose is too short. I routed my HP line just as the others did above and had no header clearance problems. I suggest you ring Borgeson Monday before you do anything else and give them the length of the HP line and ask them if it is the correct one. If it is, then they should be able to help you over the phone. If it is the wrong one, I am sure that they will make it right for you.

You could always take a photo of the hoses next to a tape measure and email it to them today so that they will have it when you ring them tomorrow. (It's Sunday arvo in Australia now!)

Regards from Down Under.

Default Wrong routing.

I just had another look at your photo and that is NOT the way to route your PS lines. They MUST go along the inner guard and bend down in front of the steering box (and the #1 header pipe) to the pump. If they physically cannot do that, then you must have been supplied with the wrong hoses. Borgeson #925103 is the correct part number for this hose kit.

Please advise the source of your kit, that may shed some light on what's happened.

Regards from Down Under.

As said they should run down the inner guard and then turn in line with back of power steering pump.

The modification of the pump case to have return pointing up rather than down is well worth it.

So much simpler than the stock setup.

It may be that your PS pump is not mounted to the motor with the correct brackets and that would cause issues and or the pump was replaced and your line connections are not clocked correctly.

I just think they packed the wrong hoses, like I said they are only 18in long, from the post above his are 2 ft long. At this point I'm going to call Borgeson tomorrow but by the time they get me hoses I could have made my own.

Are you trying to run the line under your header? From your box, it should run on top like under your Alt.

The input line was re-routed and we are good. Had a longer return line made and routed it around the headers so now we are good.
