To check whether the clutch is disengaging, shouldn’t I be able to have someone step on the clutch pedal and try to spin the transmission yolk by hand. I can’t get the yolk to spin. This is a Ram Clutch. I have the forward level on the transmission forward and I’m trying to spin the transmission yolk with someone flooring the clutch pedal. This is a new installation. I put the engine in the car and I and trying to determine if the clutch is disengaging before I go any further with the installation.
Please help

Okay, I adjusted some slop out of the Z-bar. This helped, the clutch is disengaging but I don't know if enough. I think I have the transmission in 4th. I can turn the yolk with some effort, but I can hear the clutch disk on the pressure plat. This is with the pedal at the floor.
Some drag is normal, especially on a new clutch. Slowly release the pedal while turning the yoke and see where it grabs. It should allow you to release the pedal some ways before grabbing. If it grabs right off the floor it's not good.

This is good information. I didn't know whether it was supposed to be free wheeling like the transmission was in neutral. I had my wife operate the clutch pedal while I spun the yolk. At the point where the clutch engages strong enough that I can't spin the yolk, I can easily get my hand between the floor and pedal.
Thanks, this is very helpful. I wasn't relishing the thought of pulling the engine back out,
