Default Odd no start condition

I just had a very odd no start condition that I'm hoping you guys can help shed some light on.

Warmed up car enough to get it off choke, backed out of garage parked on driveway. Turned it off and let sit for about an hour. Go back to turn it on and nothing. No click or any attempt of any kind.

-Battery power 12.4, all electronics work, lights on at full capacity, radio a-ok.

-Cables tight and clean.

First test was to smack the starter while turning the key. No change.

Second test, was just to drop a jump on it. No change

Third test was to run a remote trigger/bypass from the battery direct to the starter lead. This did the trick, the car started right up. Now this is the odd part to me. Once the engine started off remote trigger now it starts up just fine off the key.

My supposition is this, and please weigh in if you can:

I inadvertently activated a starter cutoff with the security system. By bypassing the security system and starting the engine it went back to default mode. (note, I have no idea how the stock security system works or if I even have one, but this is the only thing that makes sense to me)

Also the starter was replaced 1yr ago.

I'm not aware of any C3 coming from the factory with a security system that had a starter disable.

Check the wires at the starter and make sure they are tight. Your remote switch probably wiggled them back into contact.

Sounds like an intermittent starter solenoid to me.

Default Will not start.

I had a problem with my 73 when I finally got the rebuilt engine in. It would start once in a while, then not. Thought it might be the starter, which was also brand new. The car had sat for many years, not sure how much that factors into the equation. Replaced the neutral safety switch, by the shifter for my automatic. No problem since. Good Luck.

thats a good call out.

I may not have had it fully engaged in park until I pushed it back in the garage and changed back to park. Sometimes you just need to have someone who is not engaged in the problem to get a clear perspective.
