GM limited slip additive
How much GM limited slip additive would you add to a posi differential that holds 3.7 pints (59.2oz)?

I would buy the gear lube that has the additive already in it.

I went to my Chevrolet dealership to buy the gear oil and posi additive.
It was two bottles of gear oil and one little bottle of posi additive.
I went to GM to buy it for the very reason you're asking the question...I wanted to be sure I added the right amount of the stuff.

In my experience the oil that already has the additive in it doesn't work. I still had chatter. Only thing that works is the GM additive.
One bottle is what should be needed. GM says a second bottle can be added if chatter persists (this is the official fix for some new Camaros).

I've been using it for 37 years with 3 different rear ends. Never had any problem.

Mobil 1 75W-90 GL-5 with no additive for 26 years now...zero chatter. Works great and is synthetic....

That's why I started out with "In my experience".
YMMV

I just changed mine, bought 2 quarts of Valvoline High Performance 80W/90 with limited slip additive already in the bottles, but also added a 4oz bottle of GM limited slip I picked up at the dealer. That was the consensus with most forum users and the dealership. Most dealerships around here no longer carry the original part number product gear oil and said just use any good 80W/90, but also recommended Valvoline. plus it is a lot less expensive.
