[QUOTE=TexasFight;1591563657]AT: I have not been on here in a while but just did a few things to the 78. Was going to replace idler arm but went ahead did Steeroids.
I know it is a little off topic for this thread, but can you comment on your Steeroids experience? Even start a new thread if appropriate?
I have a 1978 SA L82 4 Speed, and it needs a steering cylinder rebuild, AND a bushing replacement in the driver side lower control arm. And who knows what else. Before I start incrementally updating the power steering, I'm wondering whether Steeroids might be worthwhile, and if the time is right to get into that.
So, are you happy you went with Steeroids? What changed? Is it noticably better than the stock system? Any negatives? Thanks in advance for anything you can say...
Just want to mention that the power assist cylinder can't actually be rebuilt unless it's cut apart and welded back together. The "rebuild" kits being sold at auto parts stores only contain the outer seal(s). If yours has a functional problem, not just a leak, you need a new or rebuilt cylinder.
454 - Thanks for that! I saw that with rod broken I wouldn't be able to reuse it and saw no way to rebuild it. At this point planning to buy a new one, considering the SS version from VBP. Then after buying it outright sell my old one for what they will give me!
Andy, I have an almost new cylinder (maybe 500 miles at most) if you want it. Send your address and I will mail it to you. I changed to steeroids so don't need it.
