rebuilding rusty brake lines
My 84 full size Blazer is suffering from serious rust from all the fun we've had blasting through surf at the ocean shore and driving on salty winter roads. Anyhow the brake lines are rusting out and one of them burst on me the other day. Upon inspection I found that rust was eating the lines in other places as well. I found a stainless line kit from a restoration parts catalog and they wanted nearly $400 for it. Way to much for that old clunker. I am assuming it might be cheaper if I build my own lines from non stainless. Where do I look for the tools to bend and furrel and raw material like lines and fittings? Dont you guys think I could do it cheaper than $400, even after buying the tools and material?
