I have a 69 small block coupe with original gm side exhaust. I run a Hedman ceramic coated header. Hedman offers these in painted as well. I do not know if they make one for a big block application. I purchased mine through Summit. Perfect fit as well.

Both Stahl (very expensive) and Hedman, offer headers for use with stock side exhaust. There were other companies that use to make headers to use with the Corvette side pipes, such as Casler, so there may be some other sources for them too.
The Stahl headers run out to meet the side pipe near the cover, and get welded to the stock side pipe. The Hedman ones make a ninety degree turn and end with a 3" collector, behind the front tire. The Stahl headers aren't designed to be used with AC, while Hedman has brackets available to mount the compressor.
The Stahl headers are so much more expensive, because they are basically custom made, and very high quality.
You can find the Stahl side pipe headers here under number 115.
This link will show the small block version I am running on my car. The collector is tucked up under the car just below the frame rail behind the front wheel. I would categorize it as more of a long tube style than a shorty.
