decoding engine casting number
Apparently I didn't do my homework when I purchased my new used 81 vette. The owner assured me the vehicle was original with the title stating actual miles as 80127 miles. However the engine block casting number = 1401020Z and my vin #=1G1AY8761B5101519. Can anyone tell me how to decode my engine casting number? :cry

Actually you have the correct block..14010207 (not Z). There should be a stamped pad on the block just at the right head at the front. There should be number followed by three letters. Then there should be another number that contains a derivetive of the vin. So far , so good..
