There's about a 1" gap at the rear top of the driver's side window of my 71 conv w/manual windows If I adjust the glass to eliminate it then there's a gap at the front. The passenger side is fine, but I cannot correct the driver's side. I've adjusted the window at the points listed in the Assembly manual and have tried adjusting the 2 top frame mounting bolts. Any ideas?
You may need to adjust the two bolts in the middle of the door that control one of the guide tracks. Loosen everything all at once then slowly adjust by see-sawing window, notice which way bolts want to drift. Make sure upper stops are all the way up. Also check upper rubber seal which can be adjusted in or out to help with better fit.
I've had the best luck doing this job, by doing the following:
1) Remove seat
2) Remove armrest / door panel
3) Loosen all window adjustment bolts
4) Get in car, and close door, then raise window
5) Adjust window till it fits like you want / need
6) Tighten window adjusting bolts in sequence suggested in maintenance / repair manual
7) Re-install seat and door panel.
Re: Driver's side window alignment (john's '81 mouse)
:smash: :smash: :smash: I hate window adjustments!!!!!!! How could something that just goes up and down be such a pain in the butt. I'm so close with mine but yet so far away.
