Default 2004R Conversion

Last winter I put Tuned Port Injection on my 80 Corvette....I love it ! Now I an changing the Turbo 350 to a 2004R. Does anyone know what I will need for the shifter bracket on the transmission. I'm guessing it won't be the same. I want to gather the parts before I start.

I literally just received a quote from BTO do run a 350-to-200-4R swap... Let me assist you.

You will need shifter SC2403 ($100), the TV System ($160), the TCC relay kit ($45), speedo gears ($115), and the neutral safety switch P/N S-522CVT ($50). Other things to consider are the dipstick tube and inspection cover if you don't have them already, as well as the crossmember p/n C23HDT ($225) if you don't modify your own.

Rich Weller from BTO was a lot of help informing me that I'm broke and will need to save up about $2700 for this swap

I moved the holes in the existing bracket, virtually free if you have a welder. Use the existing cross member, just unbolt the TH350 bracket and you have the proper mounting holes right there. I re-bent the dipstick tube, helps to have a welder to put on a mounting tab, I just used a washer. I had to trim about an eighth inch off the inspection cover. I have a Bowtie throttle bracket and cable set up for Edelbrock if you are interested PM me.

It's a 3.70 rear, confirmed the other day with the good ole fashioned spin-the-wheel-count-the-driveshaft-revolutions test!

Great that is 10.2:1 in the driveline.
You will be happy with that, and also with your 5th gear :- ))

Keep us posted.......

I can't wait to drop my next check on this swap.

Seriously though. I was counting my pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters to do this mod until a shattered differential entered my life.

I can't wait to do this swap but I plan on buying the trans from Monster due to their warranty. Good luck!

200 4r if the way to go, some dozen years ago I put one in my '72 former Muncie 4 speed car....SBC roller L98, I put the throttle cable to the gas pedal arm so straight up and over top and welded a lip on one of the support brackets to hold the inch square end for adjustment tied the control to the gas pedal arm....I built the trans myself in the back room, trans go shift kit and top of line parts, yes the trans will set on the cross member in rear, did on my '72 anyway.....I would just use the stock shifter, in typical driving, how often you ever lock your trans in first gear??? given that torque converter....NEVER so just set it up correctly and use the 3 speed shifter.....I guess I have maybe 600 bux in it but don't forget it was done years ago.....it was a junkyard unit out of a Monte.....Oh, edit....engine is a 350 roller engine and had an L98 induction at one time, NOW it's an LT1 induction keeping the HEI in back....the only one in the world....see sites.....

75 coupe stock was TH 400 308 gear.
I am finishing up a 700R4 now, u bolts for u joints were missing picked them up today.
I used the original 3 speed shifter & did not change the safety switch, it should work as these are similar transmissions.
Good luck should be a better car when finished.
Chuck
