Question about hoods...?
I'm curious about this one.. I've seen 68-72 Vettes with aftermarket hoods that come all the way back to the windshield and don't have the lid that stores the wipers. Also saw a 72 for sale that had a 73 hood.. is it easy to remove this piece to get any kind of aftermarket hood? I'm going to be in the market for a 72 and want a 2" cowl type hood but want to know if it's simple to install.

IMO, keep the wiper door, i'ts the only car ever made to have one, AFAIK...
it's a funny and cool feature, and not all that hard to fix either...

A 73 up hood won't exactly fit just by removing the wiper door. It will not line up correctly at the corners by the windshield where the chrome trim is. Also in the late seventies they changed the latches by reversing where the female and male parts are. There are a few aftermarket hoods out there. Some are not too good. Hoods are extremely hard to get looking just right once you get away from the original. You can see this in lots of cars that really look great except fo the fit of the hood. They always seem to have that "Goofy" look.
