Default Corvette vs Cadillac Tilt Tele

Are they basically the same? Can a 'Vette wheel mount to a Cadillac column?

Your questions are a bit confusing. The steering columns are not the same. That said, a Corvette steering wheel might install on a Cadillac column.

The T&T head is very generic. Most of the components will interchange between the Cadillac head and the Corvette head. Note that the original Corvette T&T column had a head that was full round except were the lock cylinder was in place. In 1977 and through 1982, the T&T head had a rectangular bulge were the turn signal lever attached to the head. So if your Corvette column has that bulge on the left side, the Cadillac column must have a head with that same bulge in order for parts to interchange.

The common design and hardware in the steering column head allowed the various car divisions to design their own telescope lock, their own horn mechanism, unique styled steering wheels, etc. Those car division family of parts would basically fit any GM T&T column.

Now, the rest of the column (i.e. steering shaft length, mounting points, steering jacket length, attachment to the steering gear or intermediate steering shaft, plate to dash panel, etc) had to be designed to actually fit the car division dash structure. No other GM steering column will fit the Corvette dash structure without major modifications to the dash as well as the steering column.

Taking into account the "round head" or the "turn signal lever bulge" type of steering columns, the Corvette steering wheel with all its hardware should fit a Cadillac steering column.
