I have Optima's in my three vehicles. I use battery tenders (for AGM batteries) on the ones that aren't driven regularly. So far over the past several years they have performed without a hitch.

my previous red top optima lasted 8 years,not bad,just installed a new optima red top,should be all good.i do use a battery tender charger when car is not in use.

I run red top, on my second one. First one lasted 10 years and when car goes to storage a battery tender goes on battery. My son and other family member have not had a problem with them.

As noted AGM is also good
