Default 1982 heads question

ive been looking around for aluminum heads for my 82 corvette an still use my crossfire intake. im notsure what size to get i want as much performance i can get i have ported the intake. i have tested the intake on one set of aluminum heads and the intake did not line up at all when the intake sat on the heads you can see the head runners. also not wanting to spend an arm an a leg im on a budget build.

That intake has ports half the size of a regular small block intake.,I don't see how you can make that intake worthwhile. Some people get the renegade intake, that may be your best move.

Hmm that's weird.. Yep the Renegade will wake that motor up.

the ports can be made to match the gaskets that you use to put the intake and heads back together

Yes that is what I first did while waiting on the Renegade. Big improvement for the stock intake.

That ceasefire intake is complete garbage, anything you do to it is like peeing your pants, it it gives you a warm feeling that is short lived. The renegade intake is your only bet with that system if you are married to it.
By the time you get done buying that intake and then bigger throttle bodies you could have bought an aftermarket fuel injection system.
As far as the so called cool look factor,I'd rather have a car that ran. Sorry to be so negative but I would rather have a carburetor.

I too would rather have a better fuel injection setup but with that being said they are very expensive, minimum $2200 where as the Renegade is $550 and a couple hundred for the TBs. My Renegade was free though through the very generous Jim from DCS. Long story...

I just saw the renegade manifold advertised in the summit racing catolog. So it must be getting popular. I'm currently running a stock CFI that was ported or I should just say hogged out to match the heads as much as possible. It made a little more power but it doesn't compare to the renegade manifold. Good luck and let us know how it works out! The best bang for the buck was the Hypertec Chip/prom . I went with stage one but you should be all set to go with stage 2 if you can keep the engine temp under 170*

Wow! That is a major mismatch and the motor cant run like that. I dont see how that could happen w/o milling the stock intake to much and maybe a huge head gasket. U need a new intake for what u have now. I vote for the Renegade to.

Well for a stock 350" u dont need much for intake runner size - 170cc to 180cc. Edelbrock has quality heads for just bolt on and go. Also AFR, Trick Flow, Dart, Brodix all have good heads for a 350". The difference in pwr between those u may never even feel. More important to select the chamber size for the compression ratio u have. For your motor just get a cyl head chamber with < 10.5 c.r. for pump gas. Add that Renegade intake and u will have a good street combo for any camshaft with a street duration (<175* full duration).

Default Vortexc Head?

It looks like an aluminum Vortec aftermarket head as it's ports are so much taller than the intake's ports.
