okay if you want to get about 300hp you need to think about a better cam and porting out the intake.Thats not hard but it takes time .There are several manufactures and they all have good heads for what you want .I would check out summit for best price. But before you put any money in this motor I would do a compression check first .how many miles are on the motor?

Yes, that's net. The reason I asked is that I'm not sure the motor is all that far away from the performance level the OP asked about. 300 HP gross from a 350 SBC is pretty much a base motor IMO. Given his stated purpose for this (which is not too different than my own), he might see more improvement by changing out the rear. Moving from the factory 2.87 to something like a 3.55 or 3.70 would be night and day for city driving. My '82 already has good acceleration in 1st at full throttle. Where it fails is 2nd gear and up. 25-30% more leverage at the rear wheels would resolve that.

I know of two guys that have these and are happy. They don't race, but they like 300- 325 hp on the street.they are a good improvement over the stock heads.

I installed Trick Flow® Super 23® 175 Cylinder TFS-30300002. If I remember correctly, it raises compression to almost 10.5 to 1. I also installed the renegade intake, comp cams CC 12-249-4 (XE249H), roller rockers (1.5), hypertech chip and 3.73 gears. All that finally woke up the vehicle. Comp Cams engine modeler shows it as a tad over 350hp with 403 lbs torque. With 1.6 rockers it shows it at 389hp with 412 torque (but it moved the power curve much higher and didn't make sense to me as I don't race it).

Very cool! What headers and exhaust are you running? Gears are the only thing hindering me. I went with the XE260H cam in mine with 1.6 rockers.

Stock exhaust manifold and exhaust (with the exception of high flow converter - Magnaflow Catalytic Converter 36440). I live in California so I'm seriously restricted.

Sure I understand, mine is stock manifolds (tiny) with CC true duals not cats. I would love to find someone that could replicate them with bigger primaries. Know of anyone?

Didn't change the crank, nor the computer. But you will have to rework the throttle bodies. A member named Steve put this together, worked perfectly.

The ecu can only take so much. You need to get the ecm reprogrammed. I think it is replace or burn the eprom on top like the tbi box it is. Yup. Here is the preferred ecm. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1227747-Eng...pe!19061!US!-1.
