Default Intake Manifold/Carburetor

Any suggestions on a replacement intake manifold and carburetor that will still take my stock air cleaner and will fit under the stock hood of a 69 Vette 350/350?

If the goal is performance, you'll have to consider modifying the hood or storing it away and buying a high-rise replacement. I only use low profile, dual-plane intakes (spread bore) when low end torque and fuel economy are the primary concerns. For best mid-range torque coupled with good horsepower to 6K-7K, you need a good single-plane square bore and a Holley. As a compromise if you must keep the stock hood, a square bore dual plane and Holley will kick it up a notch.

As others have stated, the best combo is an Edelbrock Performer and a Quadrajet carb given the restriction of "still take my stock air cleaner and will fit under the stock hood of a 69 Vette 350/350". In particular I would recommend a Quadrajet M4M tuned by Lars and converted to an electric choke. Shark Racer gives an excellent discription here. You'll need to run the later model fuel line and a wire for the electric choke. Other than that , its bolt on and go.

That's what I'm running with a Weiand Action +Plus PN 8004 intake manifold, stock hood and air cleaner on a '73. The car has never performed so well; almost like fuel injection.

Some pics of mine after a Lars rebuild.

I contacted Lars about 4 weeks ago and he informed he wasn't taking on any rebuilds at this time so I then bought a complete rebuild kit form Cliff's High Performance Quadrajets along with his book and took it on myself. It's not that hard to do especially with Cliff's book to guide you. That's if you do need a carb rebuild.

Default Headers

On a 69 vette 350 motor with stock side exhaust does anyone know a set of headers that the side pipes will bolt on without any modifications?

What exactly is your goal in this? A properly tuned 350/350 runs pretty well. Simply replacing the low-rise intake manifold with another low-rise intake manifold isn't going to extract much more HP, if any at all. (No matter which carb you choose to use.)

I suggest making a dyno run as the car sits today and then another after the intake swap. You'll most likely be disappointed.

A higher-rise manifold (aka LT-1) would help, but your stock hood requirements won't allow it.

For answers on this, you'd probably be better off posting a new topic thread asking about headers and side exhaust rather than posting this in a 2 year old carburetor and intake manifold thread...
