Lars recurve kit

Glad to hear it's running nice for you. The neat thing about playing with the ignition curve on the late C3s is that they have so much room for improvement: the factory was running the ignition curve slow and retarded in order to comply with emissions. This resulted in a severe performance penalty. Getting a full-length curve into the distributor and getting the timing in quickly really makes a difference in the throttle response and power on the late cars.
I have a 1980 (L-48 / 350C Automatic) and I am replacing that engine with a new Goodwrench 350 (low HP). The new engine will also get a new distributor (p/n 110-4067). However, no internal modifications are planned, i.e. I am not changing the camshaft, and the car will have a stock exhaust etc. I intend for the car to be a daily driver. Would this engine significantly benefit from a recurve kit? If so, what is the cost?
Thanks,
Dave
I believe that Lars is still temporarily retired from the recurve kit and carb rebuilding business. (It's a damn shame too! :cry ) However, search the Corvette Forum archives and check out Terry Rudy's website http://www.corvettefaq.com and you will find lots of good information that Lars and others have written about setting up ignition curves etc.

I put this cam in and it is very nice for low end torque and throttle responce:

You can use the lifters already in the engine since it had never been started. It is a great $60 investment.

MESS WITH THIS MOTOR BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN.
You're going to want to anyways.
I've put up with it for two years, and its lackluster performance is really starting to get on my nerves.
I've done everything possible to increase it's performance without opening the motor up or installing headers, and have been rewarded by being a full 3/10s of a second faster than stock.
I am going to rebuild my carb and report what kind of power I get after that. However, this christmas, the cam fevre recommends is going in.
Save utter engine catastrophe, (which would mandate a rebuild... and I rather doubt they'd open the engine up and measure your cam), I doubt they'd know that you'd installed the 1102 cam. It's really not all that much hotter than stock.
Plus, if you're truly worried about it, sallee-chevrolet sells a version of the GW350 with the summit-1102 cam already installed!

I just looked at that page again and never noticed just how much more torque that cam gives: 51ft/lbs! That's a huge jump. I miss the throttle reponse of that cam. Can image what a 600 dp would have been like on it.
