I'm going to run a new roller cam with Compcams 953 springs. A machinist told me I shouldn't run Teflon seals (like I have for 35 yrs) on the street because they don't let any oil through for lubrication. Are viton the best choice? I have 3/8 dia stem valves. Is there any advantage to use 10 deg locks over 7 deg?
Thanks for your advice.

I have always felt the Teflon seals are the very best style to use and there is no advantage to using the 10 degree locks other than they're bigger and not as easily dropped as the teensy 7 degree locks.
Teflons are fine if guides are in good shape. Used them for years on the street also. Viton's are more forgiving mainly due to design of most seals made from it.
On the street....teflons wear out very quickly.
Viton is the way to go....Contact USseal in Fort Gratiot Michigan....they make the best out there....Viton fluroelastomer that is impregnated with 5% Teflon.....
I even use them in my 9500 rpm Vintage Honda bike engines.
