had finisher my caliper rebuild about 6 months ago and was cleaning the bolts when i noticed they were two different lengths. these are the caliper mounting bolts not the bolts that bolt the two sides together. mine are 1 inch and 1 1/4- 7/16x 20. i keep thinking the short bolt will go on the rear of the caliper mount and the longer one on the front of the caliper mount.thats the way i had them on my work bench but i would like to know for sure. also i'm getting some torque specs. for them that seem a little off. i don't feel good about twisting a 7/16 x20 bolt up to 135 ft. lbs of torque. seems like something bad would happen at that torque setting.i have a friend that used to work on vettes back in the 90's and he said that a 7/16 bolt will not hold up to that kind of torque. thanks
thanks Alan. now i'll wait to see if i'm right about the length of the mounting bolts. i still think the short bolts go in the rear of the caliper and the long ones go in the front of the caliper for mounting.

somebody switched bolts on you, all the bolts for mounting all the calipers are the same length. Unfortunately the AIM only gives the part number not the specifications. Screw the bolt in lightly and see which one goes completely into the caliper mounting bracket.
Hi cdw,
The 71 AIM indicates a different part number for front and rear caliper mounting bolts.
But, I believe MW's right, the bolts are typically 1-1/8" long.

Alan
ok i finally found the video. this u-tube video shows a guy with a parts bag from corvette stainless steel brakes (part number p-310)

ok,i used my trusty digital calipers and got a good measurement. from the caliper mount pad to the rotor(i can see the rod hit against the rotor)is 1 1/4". thats right on the rotor so a lock and washer should be good to go. don't know why the guy in the video had a problem or the parts bag was marked front and rear but measurements don't lie. i'll now finish the job. thanks
