I was looking at the shim location on the A arms of my 1980 vette. The higher stack of shims are at the front. Wouldn't this be neg caster?
I thought they were stacked higher at the rear for pos caster.

When the shims are added in the front that pivots the top of the a-frame to the rear which tilts the top of the spindle backwards; increasing the inclination angle (positive caster). Adding shims in the rear pivots the top of the a-frame foreword which tilts the top of the spindle foreword and increases the negative caster.
Shims need to go wherever they are needed to make the geometry correct so sometimes you'll find more in the front and sometimes more in the rear depending on how your frame came out after fabrication.
