So I've found an lq4 near me for a few hundred bucks. The engine is probably going to need some machine work anyways with more than 200,000 miles on it. For a vette that's going to be driven a few times a week as a semi daily driver, what's everyone's opinion on stroking it to a 408? I'd like to put some l92 heads and an ls3 intake on it as well. Are the l92 heads going to do well for me? I've been reading that the low-end torque with those is a bit lacking. The car will have a 6 speed by the way. The car needs to be tame enough to be driven often, but have enough getup and go to not embarrass me against some Honda Civic lawnmower. Should I just find another engine with less miles on it and keep it at stock displacement? Thanks for any help.

I only have LS experience with my work truck which has over 222,000 miles on it and runs like a champ (4.8L). The lq4 may need nothing, or very little, for a long while as a casual driver.
That said - I doubt a 408 really could lack much bottom-end power with any factory head and intake and with a manual trans too. Unless you cam it with a very high duration and don't have the rear gears low enough.
Sounds like a very interesting swap - especially if it involves a 408 LS ! I don't think you'd have many chances to be embarrassed, not many would be capable of doing so.
