Default Electronic Ignition Conversion

Has anyone installed the Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit from http://www.breakerless.com/index.htm or any other conversion kit for that matter?

Any advantage other than not having to change and adjust points?

As the side pressure of the points will slowly wear the upper bronze bushing out the breaker-less ignition won't wear the bushing. So yes, there is an advantage.

i'm running the Breakerless SE unit in my '72 350 auto, no problems in the 2yrs it's been fitted.

fitted perfectly, didn't even remove the dissy, swapped in place.

used the stock 43yr old coil originally,
only recently upgraded/swapped to a "Crane PS20 Ignition Coil", looks like original (with the sticker removed).
figured it couldn't hurt as the original probably getting tired.

I recommend the Breakerless SE. I have run both and greatly prefer the SE. The nice thing is you do not have to run a new dedicated 12v wire for the SE as you do with the Pertronix. It uses your stock wiring.

In a word? Accuracy.....
Breaker points are not the most reliable for firing every time in extreme high RPM situations.
It is a more reliable trigger as far as hitting every time....

Also....you can leave the key on and not worry if the contact is open or closed.

For a mild engine, points, Pertronix conversion or HEI all work great. I like points in my 68 L36. Then again I'm old skool...

Default Pertronix

I had this brand in my car for 6 months and then it failed. I'm not buying another cheap brand. Will try the SE model next. Hopefully with better results. And yes, the Pertronix brand was installed correctly.
