Default Missing interior lights.

81 corvette, missing or looking over the feed wire for the light in the top of the center gauge cluster. Also was there a cargo light on the back wall under the rear glass in 81?

The connector is part of the main dash harness. The lamp uses a pig tail part #8916600 from the lamp to the harness.

No. The dome light is in the t-bar.

You're looking for two individual wires (one black and one grey I believe) with what looks like octagonal washers crimped on the ends. The wires screw on to the housing and the "washers" become the contacts for the twist-in bulb connector. The wires come from the passenger side.

When installed it's very easy for the bulb to catch on and damage the dash pad during removal/installation so be careful.

A couple other things. The purpose of that light is to make the non-back lit climate controls reasonably visible at night.

While the bulb looks pretty much like your standard 192 used for general background lighting, it is not. There is a little lens cast into the end. The trade number is 558 and you may have to order it on-line.

The lamp shown below had two wires that plugged into a connector that is shown on the bottom picture.

This connector breaks out of the dash main right behind the center dash bezel.

Here's the page from the assembly manual. Notice "Illumination Connector" at the top.

You may be missing the little wiring harness (item 1).

The bulb socket is a slightly larger version of those used in the cluster and gauge pack.

I havent had a chance to look at it again. Since getting it on the road some things are popping up that need to be looked at. Looks like it will be a little bit before I can get to it as I will be moving again, I just moved in the house im in 8 months ago.
