getting ready to mount the wheels after rebuilt calipers when i saw a leak coming from the lr. thought i might have gotten a seal off so i took it off and saw that there was no fluid coming from the piston area or dust seals. they were dry. i do not know where the fluid was coming from. split the calipers and ran them on a straight edge to true them up. thought maybe the "o" seal between calipers was bad or the surface was uneven. there does not seem to be many places where the calipers can leak (bad o ring or lip seals). is truing up the mating surfaces part of a caliper rebuild? if so i have not heard of doing this. i was very alarmed to see that the seal and piston area was dry but fluid was dripping from somewhere. i know about the lip seal vr. o ring. i have good luck with lip seals and i had them on hand so i used them. also the right rear wheel will not turn. left rear good. rivets still on right rear and gone on left rear. sounds like the e-brake might be stuck,it's been sitting for a few years. i will drive this car this year.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Could be leaking from the casting somewhere, get an oil detection kit from Napa and put some dye in the master cylinder and you will be able to see where it leaking. And you can use the kit over and over
5 years ago 3 of 4 calipers started leaking at the piston seal. I rebuilt them and all was good for the rest of the season. 4 years ago 2 of 4 calipers started leaking at the o ring between the halves. Installed new o ring and all was good for the rest of the season. 3 years ago the other 2 of 4 calipers started leaving again at the piston seal and a 3rd was leaking from some undetermined place (crack?). gave up and bought aluminum Wilwood replacement calipers. no leaks in 3 years, far better pedal pressure and dropped a ton of weight. Should have done that in the first place.

i know the drill. thats what will happen if these give me a rough time.trued up the small o ring surface mounting points and a new o ring and will hope for the best.don't know of any where it can leak unless a small crack. i ran about 120 lbs. of air in the line and blocked the pads and saw nothing. probably not enough pressure to see the leak. thanks for the reply.
