Brake problem with an 82 sting ray
She's my dream car and got her cheap as hell.
she runs and drives,
But the brakes are stopping me from driving her and I can't tell exactl what's wrong with them.
I was told that it was a leak in one of the cylinders.
Basically there's no tension in the brakes, they're very soft and don't brake the car unless i push them all the way and then it still barely brakes the car.
The e-brake is a completely different story. I can drive the car with the e-brake up.
When pulling back the e-brake its got some tension still but still doesn't stop the car remotely.
So what exactly is my problem?
Is it the brake pads or leaky cylinder?
How much would it cost to repair this? I can give more details of needed.
Thanks in advance!

you want to be looking for leaks, at fittings, hoses, calipers, master cylinder, etc. evaluate condition of fluid, rotors, pads, etc. you need to know the history of the vehicle, what, if any, parts have been changed from stock/replaced, even exactly what kind of fluid is in there...

Congratulations on you new car. I think you'll have a blast with it.
There is a search function on this forum that you can use to gather information about most topics. I myself have had good results using it on general things, but have had mixed results on specifics on other questions. I search as much as I can, and if I cant find the answer I need, or think I need, then I post a question.
Most of my questions probably seem simplistic to anyone with a good grasp of mechanics, which unfortunately, I do not possess. So ask away, but be prepared to get flamed by some posters around here.
And again, welcome to the forum, I've learned a few things, and expect to learn a lot more, from forum members.
