Plug "from what I heard" 5/8 8 point socket? I found that it was pretty tough to find that socket. All that comes up is 12 points.... Any help would be great

It's a square plug, so a 12 point socket will work. I can't remember the size though.

Okay thanks. And if it's a square head, why couldn't you use an open end wrench ?

If it's too tight you will round off the plug head and then you really have a problem. I found my socket at Sears.

I would recommend you crawl under the car with a short ruler and measure the distance across the flats of the plug since your plug maybe different than mine. Should be either 1/2" or 9/16".

My 73 as well. A 7/8 inch crow foot wrench works perfectly.
