79 water leak under dash
driving in rain the other day, water was leaking from under dash, drivers side, left foot. Does anyone have any thoughts as to where to look for leak.
it seemed to be from above next to the drivers side kick panel.
Thanks

did you open the hood and look in the wiper linkage area for any blockage of the drain or cracks in the area?

Dont panic yet. Open the hood and take a garden hose and start by putting water onto the fire wall and see if you have a crack or hole that water spray from your front wheel could be the cause. Then start by putting water into the wiper well and see if the leak comes back. Take a few minutes at each area and slowly work up the window frame a few inches at a time then move to the passengers side before you do the top. Remember to give the water time to travel the distance it needs to, to get to your leak. Obviously you need to park on a hill sideways, drivers side down when you do the passenger side to simulate centrifugal forces from turning. Then do the top and start on the drivers side and work the front of the window. Dont get the t tops wet yet because your checking the windshield frame now. If the leak is low maybe its not that bad. If its the sides it might be the frame. If you have t tops start on the drivers side and work to the passengers side.
I've read that t tops leak alot but thats other peoples opinions. I know my hardtop leaks when I wash it and water comes in though the sides of the door where it latches so I will not drive it in the rain just because I know mine is a mess that way
