Default Autometers on a late c3

After messing with the gauges, to my wit's end, and determining that I actually like autometers more than stock. I have a 77, which is the year the gauge cluster changed, but not much else in the Interior. They are half circles, and use the printed circuit board. Anyone install autometers in a later c3? also, Looks like on the phantom gauges summit sales, the oil pressure is a mechanical gauge. Should I use mechanical on the oil pressure gauge?

I like the mechanical gauges, some like the electronic. Many have done what you propose. I have a set of phantom II gauges ready to go in so I will be interested in the responses too.

There are quite a few older threads with a lot of information. The 68-76 center stack accepts 2 1/6" Autometer gauges perfectly. Not sure what options you have with the 77, but maybe an older full circle gauge cluster could be swapped out.

Yeah I did a ton of research on it. Never seen that done that. I really like the older gauge cluster, but id imagine it wouldn't swap

This is autometers in my 72, I removed the gauge mechanism from their housing and installed in the original gauge pan. They may fit in your cluster. I used mechanical oil press and water.

Yeah our center gauge console are totally different. We have like half circles in ours. But my tach a speedo are identical to yours. 77 was a off set year

Do hard your gauges look great, and that's a heck of an offer, but I am leaning towards after market, for looks and accuracy

Vannmike, yes I just posted to give u an idea of what would possibly be cut off from view in your stock cluster. The gauge face of an autometer is not quite as large as the stock gauge. So what would be possibly "cut" from view may be smaller than you think. Just food for thought.
And yeah, after doing a lot of research on the factory acceptable error, it's nice knowing that what you see indicated is indeed the actual temp or pressure.

I put some autometer gauges in mine. I made the holes a little larger and bought some thin lexan to cover the semicircle holes. Scuffed lexan and painted black, glued on, and added some black allen head screws to the corners to match the factory look. If I ever redo for a screen I'd probably use some aluminum or sheet metal and paint.
