why do think it is part of a Quadrajet? you found it inside the float bowl or lying on the intake manifold? what year is the carburetor?

Walker lists it as a 4 barrel part. See attachment.

Yep, the same part was used on the older 50's and 60's Rochester two and four barrel carburetors for the same purpose.

I have found them pressed in the Q jet bowl vent on some auto parts rebuilt carbs when I rebuilt them. why they were there I have no idea but I always removed them.

I fail to see it in any exploded view of a Quadrajet. The equivalent check ball parts are 32 and 33 of the diagram below

it is NOT USED in a Q jet. read my post above. item #32 in your Q jet breakdown is what replaces it

It doesn't go anywhere in a Q-Jet. It's a 2-barrel Rochester 2GC accelerator pump ball spring retaining clip. Throw it away.
