Have a 75 with a Quad. After car has run a while it will start cutting out it died on me once. I changed a couple fuel filters and it seems to be getting gas it so far has started back up ok if the coil or module were heating up would this cause this? Where to start troubleshooting so far new cap ,wires, plugs ,fuel pump and s hose which were changed due to
I would suspect the module also, as long as it's an HEI, I can't remember when GM converted. You can check to see if it has di-electric grease under it to transfer heat to the distributor body. Also when it stalls you can check for a fuel delivery problem by making sure the accelerator pump is delivering a shot to the venturies. If you can see gas going in and it still won't re-start or misses, It would confirm an ignition failure. So would pulling a plug wire and listening for a spark, or feeling for one.....

If all the ignition is oem you can not hurt your self by updating it.
I would buy a complete distributor (hei) if you have that and just install her. I suggest doing this for one big reason.
The pick up coil has wires that get brittle with age and will often times cause the issue your having. So will the coil and the module but one thing is for sure . over time all of those parts will fail so a new complete HEI distributor will cover all those bases with one stone killing 3 birds !
