Take out the bolt that holds the z-bar to the frame and the whole thing comes out.

Hi sw,
Be careful as you take the linkage apart.
There are ball studs, nylon seats, and felt seals at each end, plus a very unusual retainer at the frame mount on the cross-shaft.
It might be wise to keep track of just what's where as you disassemble.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Here's a picture showing the nut, retainer, and 1 of the seals on the cross-shaft.

Here's the clutch rod. Be sure to get the 2 springs, pin, and clips back in the right places.

While you're at it, replace the ball stud. The only time my '71 ever failed me during 40 plus years of ownership was when the ball stud broke at a traffic light.

Hi,
The springs are used to keep the linkage from rattling.
If you're going to replace one of the ball-studs you might as well replace both… there's one at each end of the cross-shaft.

Alan

Refurbish kits are very reasonable, might as well.

Default linkage rod

is the purpose of the rod only to act as a pivot point for the clutch?
